Nancy Hale
Nancy Lee Hale, 57 of Mexico, died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Audrain Medical Center, Mexico.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Liberty Church, southwest of Martinsburg, with the Rev. John Blass officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, southwest of Martinsburg. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Myers Funeral Home, Wellsville.
Pallbearers are James Davis, Justin Davis, William Davis, Andrew Fennewald, Thomas Hale, and Eric (McDougal) Henderson. Honorary pallbearers are Geoff Neill, Reece Thorpe, Evan Cook, and Justin Winingear.
Nancy was born Aug. 31, 1951 in Mexico, the daughter of William Price Hale and Ruth Ann Johnson Hale.
She first married Gail Wilson in May 1969 at the First Baptist Church in Wellsville. They were the parents of two children, Nikki and Ben Wilson. She then married Gale Stuart in 2000 at the First Baptist Church in Wellsville. They were the parents of a son, Will Stuart.
Nancy graduated from Community R-6 High School in 1969. She worked as a bookkeeper for Petro in Kingdom City for 14 years. She also had worked at Donovan’s Tax Service in Hannibal and State Farm Insurance Company in Columbia as a bookkeeper.
Nancy lived in the Martinsburg and Wellsville area most of her life. She volunteered at the Montgomery County Historical Society and the Audrain County Genealogical Society and served as the guest speaker at various genealogical meetings. She assisted at the Central Missouri Regional Center encouraging other parents of children with Down Syndrome.
Nancy enjoyed genealogy, collecting family history for many years. In her younger days, she loved horseback riding and competing in 4-H horsemanship. She was baptized at the Martinsburg Community Church and later became a member of High Point Church in Shamrock.
Survivors include her children, Laura Nicole “Nikki” Wilson, Mexico, Benjamin Scott “Ben” Wilson and fiancee, Jessica Schmidt, Montgomery City, and William Gale “Will” Stuart, Mexico; siblings, Cynthia Ann “Cindy” and Leland “Butch” Davis, Wellsville, William Johnson “Billy” Hale, Shamrock, Elizabeth Ruth “Betty” and Mike Fennewald, Martinsburg, and Rebecca Sue “Becky” Hale, Laddonia; in addition to nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Laura Elizabeth Henderson.
